March 2017

March flew by like all months seem to do. I've had a lot of people tell me that in this phase of life the days go slow but the years go fast and that definitely seems to be true. Some days are so long and exhausting but when I stop for a minute and take a look at these cute kids I can't figure out where the time has gone. I feel like it was yesterday that Cason was born and now we are excitedly waiting for our next little boy to get here. Here is a quick picture recap of some of the things we were up to in March.

There is never a dull moment in this house. Dan is such a good dad! The kids LOVE to play with him, even if it is just him towing them around the house. I remember doing this exact same thing with my dad when I was little.

On this day I brought all three kids into my doctor appointment (I think it was Spring Break for Cason), They were playing so cute together, before Dan and the doctor got there, pretending to give each other checkups and such. But... that was short lived and then they were super loud and rambunctious so Dan took them to a park near by while I waited for the doctor. They were bummed they didn't get to hear baby brother's heartbeat until they found out they were going to a park. After my appointment i met my mom at Cliffside for dinner and Dan took the kids home.

Kami has been so excited about soccer so she dressed herself and Ellie in full on soccer gear one day and they ran around in the back yard practicing their soccer moves.

We had the nicest weather during spring break and my parents were nice enough to heat their pool for us even though they were out of town. We went swimming a lot that week! It was super fun for the kids and the slept so good all week.

We decided to pack up all the bikes and take the kids on a family bike ride for FHE one night. I was just going to walk next to Ellie on her bike. We found a bike trail that looked like fun but it was more like a death trap! It was a nice smooth path that was SO steep. We couldn't even see the bottom from the top. Dan and Cason checked it out and decided it was not a safe trail for our little family. I guess we should have know that a trail called "Hell Hole" wouldn't be a great idea with little kids. After a good laugh and a "what were we thinking choosing a trail named this" we ended up going to a fun park instead. Lesson learned.

Flying kites in the empty lot next to us.

Cason's first time riding Grandma and Grandpa's new horses! He was pretty excited about it.

Ellie is not such a huge fan of the horses (yet). We gave her a carrot to feed Lady but I don't think she knew what was happening and when Lady tried to bite the carrot out of her hand she freaked out! I think she might be traumatized for life. This picture is of her trying to overcome her fear and after she rode Dixie with Cason, Dixie turned and looked at her and she panicked all over again. It was so sad and so funny and the same time.  Anytime anyone mentions the horses she says "Dixie bite me!"

Cason preformed two songs with his Chinese Dual Immersion program at the Dixie University Cultural Night so we decided to make a fun night out of it and I took him to Cliffside first for some mother/son time. My dad joined us for dinner and Cason was thrilled with this root beer float that came out before his dinner. It was fun to have him by himself for a night and he was so cute at his program. I was a proud mom!

More pool fun at Grandma and Grandpa's.

My mom was so nice to get in and swim with the kids. It was not very warm this day but she braved the cold and they loved having her in there with them. Kami loves it when Grandma teaches her to swim and I can't believe how much Kami has already improved.

When the kids don't want to leave Grandma's house, they hide.

She is growing up too fast, so a picture of her sleeping with her blankies while sucking her thumb helps her still seem little.

Ellie loves to clean! I find her all the time with wipes, wiping things down, She usually makes more of a mess than she cleans up but I let it go and hope that this phase lasts for the next 16 years.

We've had a lot of fun swimming since the weather has been a little warmer. The kids absolutely love when Dan gets in with them. They all flock to him. It is pretty sweet.

All lined up for a race.

Kami and her best bud, Knox, having a rest after an exhausting day at primary.

They love eachother (most of the time).

We had quite the scare with my Dad this month. I got a call from my mom saying my Dad was at the ER with chest pains. I hurried and got the girls in the car, picked my mom up, and met Dan at the hospital (he was already there giving my Dad a blessing with Jared, the Chef at Cliffside). Dan took the girls home and I stayed with my mom while we waited to find out more about my Dad. It turns out he had  95% blockage in his artery they call "the widow maker" which resulted in a mild heart attack. The doctors went in (while he was awake) and put two stints in to open the arteries back up. He was able to go home the next day. It was pretty scary. I am so grateful he went in to get checked out. The doctors said if he wouldn't have come in he probably would not have made it more than a couple of days. There were lots of tender mercies and I left the hospital feeling very grateful that he is okay and that he got help before it was a bigger problem.

I love watching these two become best friends, while waiting for their other best friend to get home from school.

Playing trains.

Cason gave Kami a makeover. Complete with a hair-do and makeup (I didn't know this was going on at the time).

On St. Patrick's Day we took the kids on a picnic/leprechaun hunt up to Kolob Reservoir. We didn't actually make it up to the reservoir because the road was still closed for the winter. Instead we stopped at a trail head we passed along the way. We had a picnic and then decided to take a little hike. Before we started hiking, Dan snuck off and made a trail of tootsie rolls that led to three tootsie roll piggy banks that he picked up on his way home from work. We told the kids that leprechauns really love candy and to look for any signs of leprechaun tracks or candy. When they found the trail of tootsie rolls and piggy banks they were beyond excited. It was the cutest/funniest thing ever. They were screaming at the top of their lungs. Just when we think Cason is growing up too fast he goes and fully believes that leprechauns left him a treasure. Dan and I loved watching their excitement. It is times like these that we really love having little kids.

On our way home from Kolob, Kami goes "Look at those horses!" The horses actually turned out to be heard of elk. We didn't even know they had elk around here. It was fun to stop and watch them for a while.

During spring break we took a trip out to the desert to climb rocks and ride motorcycles. It was a fun day.

2018 HIghlights

Picture journal catch up! Here is a quick month to month photo log of what we were up to in 2018. Time is flying by a little too fast! January- February- March- April- May- June- July- August- September- October- November- December- What a fun year! I know I am way way way behind but I just want to make sure I document some of our fun adventures so we never forget what an amazing life we have been blessed with. We have had plenty of hard times but looking back through these pictures helps us to be grateful for all the good times as well!

February 2017

February refused to slow down for us. The kids also refused to slow down for us. I sure do love these busy days with our little family.  Unfortunately, Ellie figured out how to climb out of her crib and decided that climbing out and playing with toys is much more fun than napping. So, she is done with naps, which makes this tired, pregnant mom very sad. When I put her down for naps this is usually what I find when I go back into her room. She keeps me busy! As you can see from the picture, the kids (I think it might have just been Ellie and Kami that did the damage) decided to pull ALL of the books out of the cabinet. They love to look at books, which I love. They usually just get the books out that they want to read, but this day was obviously different. Luckily, it is an easy cleanup.  Dan turned 32 this month! We had my parents over for mint brownies and ice cream to celebrate. He had to take the youth snow tubing up at Brian Head on his birthday so we didn'...

December 2016

Once again, I have fallen behind in posting our monthly journals but here is a quick picture recap of December (at least what I can remember of it).  Kami had her dance recital at the Festival of the Trees here in Hurricane. I could have died from all of her cuteness. She did great!  In early December the girls and I took a quick trip with my parents to Monterrey to visit Amy's family (evidently I didn't take any pictures while we were there haha) while Dan and Cason stayed home because of work and school.  It was a really fun trip for us girls. I always love a chance to be around my sisters and to let our kids play with their cousins. It was also a good excuse for Dan and Cason to have a boys weekend. In this picture Cason is helping Dan rake the leaves at the house of a widow he home teaches.  They also raked a lot of leaves at our house! Dan is a such a good dad and take every opportunity to teach our kids to serve others and to work hard. Al...
