May 2016

I'm really bad at keeping current on these posts. Here are a few of the things we did in May of this year.

We planted two square foot gardens on the side of the house. It was a fun little project for Dan and I to tackle together with the kids help of course. Unfortunately, it didn't end up producing very good but we finally have some zucchini and tomatoes to show for it. We started it really late in the season so hopefully we'll have better luck next year.
Dan and I went to the little Par 3 course out at Sand Hallow for one of our dates. It was really fun, even though he creamed me! It sure is beautiful out there.

Cason's school had a little carnival fundraiser at his school one evening. Dan was gone for some reason so I took the kids over there and they had a lot of fun. This is a picture/video of Kami doing the dunk tank. The guy was so nice and hit it after she threw it. Cason on the other hand has quite the arm and didn't have any trouble hitting it on his own.

My sister, Amy, and her kids came to visit for a week. It is always fun when cousins come to town. This is a pic of my Dad taking Kate, Bobby, and Kami (I think she's behind my dad) on a ride around their property.

I just love this picture of Ellie. She is so much fun!

While Cason was a school my Mom, Amy and I took the kids to the splash pad to cool off.

While Amy was here we also went and played a round of golf at Sand Hallow with Dan and my Dad while my mom babysat for us. It was sooooo much fun. We played best ball. Amy and I were on a team and Dan and my dad were on a team. The deal was Amy and I would get two strokes per hole which was way more than we needed (or was fair haha). We ended up playing unusually good, like better than we have ever played and won by a landslide! It was hilarious, unfortunately we will never get a handicap that big ever again and we will also never play that good ever again.

My Mom made prizes for us, which made it even that much more fun. There were prizes for things like, longest drive, best put etc. Then there was a grand prize for the winners and even a prize for the losers.

I just threw this picture in because as fun as the golfing and adventure pictures are... this is a much better representation of my day to day life right now!

Dan had a lot of helpers as he was moving our swings around in the back yard.

We went up North for the Best of State awards show. I stayed a few days longer than Dan so I could hang out with my sisters and the kids could play with their cousins. We are at the Harley Davidson shop in Orem, my sisters and I took the kids there for dinner at Marely's.

The Best of State show ended up being a HUGE success for the businesses. The hotel won Best Inn and the restaurant won Best American Contemporary Restaurant, Best Lunch Special and Best Seafood.

Erin and Christie and their husbands came too. It was a great night. There was a show and dinner along with the award presentations.

Dan accepting the award for the hotel!

Weather in May is pretty wonderful. Cason finished up Kindergarten so we had some extra time on our hands. We spent a lot of time at the park before the weather gets too hot. Cason had the best experience in Kindergarten. He did so well. We are so proud of him. I was so sad when school over just because I loved his teacher so much and he loved school so much.

While my dad was out of town one weekend we went with my Mom up to Kolob and New Harmony to explore places we haven't been yet. Kolob is absolutely breathtaking. We had a picnic up there. It was really fun. Kami packed her own picnic sac and I didn't know she put anything extra in it, but when we got there she brought her play kitchen plate, fork, napkin and lipstick and made a nice little place setting for herself. It made us laugh. She is such a fun, happy little girl.

A rare picture of all five of us...

... aaaaand this is why. Pictures are a little hectic trying to get all three to smile or at least look.

For FHE one night we got the kids Happy Meals and went to a new park to play. Which doesn't seem like a big deal except for the fact that this is the first time they have ever had Happy Meals and they thought they died and went to heaven. It was so hilarious how excited they were about it. I'm not a fan of McDonald's and when we go to fast food places I just order off of the dollar menu  for them so this was a pretty big deal for them.

On this day we rode bikes to my parents house which is a mile away. Kami was a champ and rode the whole way on her tiny little bike all by herself. We just needed to stop for a water break and to look at the horses, obviously.

Ellie's infant seat fits really well in the bike trailer so she gets to ride in comfort!

We borrowed the Jeep one day and went exploring. We drove all around out by Apple Valley and then decided to try and get to the backside of Molly's... Mountain (I refuse to call it by its real name). We got lost more than once and finally found the right rode but it got a little to steep, rocky, and uneven to attempt with the kids so we turned around. We were bummed we didn't make it there but had a great time on the drive.

The kids were trooper! They were so so so dirty when we got home! You can't see it too good in the picture but Kami's shirt is supposed to be white.

I like this picture because it shows Dan in Dad mode. He was teaching Cason how to change his bike tires. We go through a lot of bike tire because the kids like to ride their bikes in the empty lot next to us and they get lots of pokeys.

Well, there you have it... May in a nutshell! We are so grateful for this wonderful life we get to live.

2018 HIghlights

Picture journal catch up! Here is a quick month to month photo log of what we were up to in 2018. Time is flying by a little too fast! January- February- March- April- May- June- July- August- September- October- November- December- What a fun year! I know I am way way way behind but I just want to make sure I document some of our fun adventures so we never forget what an amazing life we have been blessed with. We have had plenty of hard times but looking back through these pictures helps us to be grateful for all the good times as well!

February 2017

February refused to slow down for us. The kids also refused to slow down for us. I sure do love these busy days with our little family.  Unfortunately, Ellie figured out how to climb out of her crib and decided that climbing out and playing with toys is much more fun than napping. So, she is done with naps, which makes this tired, pregnant mom very sad. When I put her down for naps this is usually what I find when I go back into her room. She keeps me busy! As you can see from the picture, the kids (I think it might have just been Ellie and Kami that did the damage) decided to pull ALL of the books out of the cabinet. They love to look at books, which I love. They usually just get the books out that they want to read, but this day was obviously different. Luckily, it is an easy cleanup.  Dan turned 32 this month! We had my parents over for mint brownies and ice cream to celebrate. He had to take the youth snow tubing up at Brian Head on his birthday so we didn'...

December 2016

Once again, I have fallen behind in posting our monthly journals but here is a quick picture recap of December (at least what I can remember of it).  Kami had her dance recital at the Festival of the Trees here in Hurricane. I could have died from all of her cuteness. She did great!  In early December the girls and I took a quick trip with my parents to Monterrey to visit Amy's family (evidently I didn't take any pictures while we were there haha) while Dan and Cason stayed home because of work and school.  It was a really fun trip for us girls. I always love a chance to be around my sisters and to let our kids play with their cousins. It was also a good excuse for Dan and Cason to have a boys weekend. In this picture Cason is helping Dan rake the leaves at the house of a widow he home teaches.  They also raked a lot of leaves at our house! Dan is a such a good dad and take every opportunity to teach our kids to serve others and to work hard. Al...
