April 2016

April in Hurricane is fabulous. I absolutely love the weather and everything is green and beautiful. It it the perfect temperature and all we want to do is get outside and enjoy all the beauty that we are surrounded by. Here are some of the the highlights from April.

I was asked to coach Cason's soccer team this year. I am not a soccer player and I knew it would be hard because of Kami and Ellie but I said I would since they were in a bind. Cason was so excited for me to be his coach. He loves soccer and is really good. There is only one other boy on his team that really cares to be there and be involved and so coaching them was kind of tricky, but it was all worth it for Cason. He scored at least one goal in every game I think and even had two game where he scored  three goals. He is an athletic little boy. He is fun to watch.
For Easter we bought the kids a nice kite (opposed to the super cheap ones we usually get) and have had a lot of fun flying it in the vacant lot next to our house on some of the more breezy days. We have to take advantage of the Hurricane winds.

I love this picture for obvious reasons.

We have been spending lots of time in the back yard. I love it so much. Dan and I redid the zip line to make it a little easier for the kids to use. They have been having lots of fun on it.

Kami learned to ride a two wheeler! She has never had a bike with training wheels and one day she asked if she could ride Cason's bike so we put her on it and she rode it like a champ. So the next Monday for FHE we went and bought her a little bike that she could start and stop on her own. She picked it up so easy. We were shocked at how we didn't even have to help her. Not to mention its super cute to watch her ride around.

She was pretty proud of her big girl bike!

We spent some time at the hotel pool which is always fun. I just had to post this picture. It just makes me laugh.

I'm pretty sure Ellie could win an award for the best bed head!

The kids spend a lot of time in the front driveway riding bikes, scooters, spin bikes, etc.

The Uhrich's came to town for a week. It is always fun when family comes to town. Cory's sister's family came with them so they spent most of their time showing them around. We still got to hang out quite a bit. On this day we went to Sand Hallow with them. The kids had a blast playing in the sand and water and going for boat rides.

Chillin with a sippy. She has a good life.

I just snapped this picture walking Cason to school one day. He usually walks with a friend but his friend wasn't going this day so we walked him all the way. I love where we live!

We found out about a rock quaary in Virgin that charges $15 for a ton of flagstone rocks. We decided to build another patio in the corner of our back yard for another hang out spot and so we got a permit and headed out for some rocks. It was NOT an easy task! The rocks were all different sizes and thicknesses. When we got there I was confidant that Dan and I would not be able to do it alone. I couldn't even budge the rocks. But Dan has weird super man strength and was somehow able to load all the rocks himself. I helped with the little ones but there weren't many little ones. I was so worried he was going to get hurt but he was a champ. We had to go back for multiple loads because the trailer couldn't handle all the weight. I love this picture of Dan carrying a small rock, Ellie watching from above and Zion off in the distance.

Cason and Kami had a blast while we got rocks. They hiked and climbed all over the place. They referred to each other as "hiker" the whole time. It was pretty cute. I love watching them explore. It was slightly dangerous with all the loose rocks and small cliffs but Cason did a good job taking care of and helping his little sister.

The kids love to take each other for rides in the wheel barrow! They may fight a lot but I'm sure glad they have each other.

We accidentally left our pick at the rock quarry so we went for a Sunday drive to pick it up the next day. We drove up Smith's Mesa. We had never been up there before and it blew us away. The road up there is a little sketchy but the views were absolutely breathtaking. I took this out the window while we were driving and it does not even come close to doing it justice.

I don't have much to say about this picture other than I love it!

I took this picture because Cason was helping Dan fix a broken pipe in the mud and Kami and Ellie decided to join in. You can't tell to good in this picture but they are all wearing mud boots!

Kami taking Maggie for a ride. She is deathly afraid of animals but loves Maggie!

It turns out Ellie is also deathly afraid of animals and did not like that the cows wandered over by her. She gets so excited when she sees animals but if they get close to her she panics.

Luckily, she also likes Maggie. But really, who doesn't? She is such a great pony for the kids to learn to ride on.

I can't even believe I'm typing this but... Cason turned six. Six! Times goes by so fast. Cason had a great birthday. He had some friends come over before school, was student of the week at school, had grandma and grandpa over for cake and ice cream and to top it all off our family went swimming at the Washington City pool, which has big water slides, so Cason was in Heaven! He was a happy boy! Being  parents to this boy for the last six years has definitely been the biggest roller coaster of our lives. He is energetic, determined, friendly, silly, smart, roudy... everything a little boy should be really. He still keeps us on our toes. We never know what to expect with Cason. Sometimes he makes us want to pull our hair out and then five minutes later we don't know how we got so lucky to be parents to such an amazing kid. I can't wait to see what his future has in store for him!

I saw this online and could completely relate. Being a Mom to three little kids is hard and tiring. Sometimes I feel like a crazy person so its nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way haha.

My calling in church is Relief Society teacher and Dan is in the Young Men but for some reason they asked him to teach High Priests one week, which happened to be the same lesson and week I was teaching. It was nice to be able to prepare together and talk through our lessons. Ellie doesn't sit well through Sunday School so during the second hour we snuck into an empty classroom to cram for our lessons while she roamed around. Then the nursery was nice enough to let her come for the last hour while we taught.

We built some garden boxes. We have never had a garden before. It was a fun little project to do together. Now we are just trying to keep everything alive!

On the last weekend of April we met up with Dan's brothers, Brandon and Jason and their families for a camp trip to Palisades State Park. We borrowed my parents tent trailer which was nice. It was a ton of fun. Cason and Holden played so good together the whole time.

There is a golf course there so on Saturday morning the guys all went golfing then later in the day we went back to the driving range and putting green for some family fun.

Kami made a pretty cute little golfer.

We rented a paddle boat and piled in there for a quick joy ride. It was getting stormy so we didn't go far from the dock with all the kids in the boat but it was still fun.

Dan took Cason and Kami for a little longer ride after Ellie and I got off.

It was pretty tight quarters for all five of us but I will take it over a tent any day!

Uncle Jason with the three babies.

All the Rich grandkids (minus Broox). It was a fun weekend. I'm glad we were all able to get together!

2018 HIghlights

Picture journal catch up! Here is a quick month to month photo log of what we were up to in 2018. Time is flying by a little too fast! January- February- March- April- May- June- July- August- September- October- November- December- What a fun year! I know I am way way way behind but I just want to make sure I document some of our fun adventures so we never forget what an amazing life we have been blessed with. We have had plenty of hard times but looking back through these pictures helps us to be grateful for all the good times as well!

February 2017

February refused to slow down for us. The kids also refused to slow down for us. I sure do love these busy days with our little family.  Unfortunately, Ellie figured out how to climb out of her crib and decided that climbing out and playing with toys is much more fun than napping. So, she is done with naps, which makes this tired, pregnant mom very sad. When I put her down for naps this is usually what I find when I go back into her room. She keeps me busy! As you can see from the picture, the kids (I think it might have just been Ellie and Kami that did the damage) decided to pull ALL of the books out of the cabinet. They love to look at books, which I love. They usually just get the books out that they want to read, but this day was obviously different. Luckily, it is an easy cleanup.  Dan turned 32 this month! We had my parents over for mint brownies and ice cream to celebrate. He had to take the youth snow tubing up at Brian Head on his birthday so we didn'...

December 2016

Once again, I have fallen behind in posting our monthly journals but here is a quick picture recap of December (at least what I can remember of it).  Kami had her dance recital at the Festival of the Trees here in Hurricane. I could have died from all of her cuteness. She did great!  In early December the girls and I took a quick trip with my parents to Monterrey to visit Amy's family (evidently I didn't take any pictures while we were there haha) while Dan and Cason stayed home because of work and school.  It was a really fun trip for us girls. I always love a chance to be around my sisters and to let our kids play with their cousins. It was also a good excuse for Dan and Cason to have a boys weekend. In this picture Cason is helping Dan rake the leaves at the house of a widow he home teaches.  They also raked a lot of leaves at our house! Dan is a such a good dad and take every opportunity to teach our kids to serve others and to work hard. Al...
