February 2016

I have fallen a little behind in my journaling efforts.  Here is a quick recap of February, or at least what I can remember from the pictures I took.

February is a slower month at the hotel so I had the bright idea to surprise the kids for FHE one night and stay at the hotel and eat dinner from the restaurant in our room and then go hot tubing. We even got adjoining rooms so Cason and Kami had a room all to themselves and Dan and I had a room with Ellie in the port-a-crib. It all sounded great and fun and we were all so excited but it was a disaster haha. It turns out Ellie really, REALLY hates hotel rooms. It was freezing and windy outside but Cason was adamant that we still go hot tubing so I went with him and we froze our faces off while Ellie screamed for Dan in the room. Of course, Cason and Kami were way to excited to go to sleep and the bed was way to comfy not to jump on and then Ellie screamed all night long. Dan had to go to the kitchen a couple of times in the middle of the night for more milk to try to quiet her down. She woke up for good at 5:30. It was all so bad that it was funny. Better luck next time I guess... actually, there will probably never be a next time for the kiddos!
We may have had a super rough night but at least we left smiling. Ellie's face in the pic cracks me up.

I thought I would try and snap a picture of what it looks like when I sit down at home when no one else is around. I get three monkeys wanting to crawl all over me like a jungle gym.
I got a puzzle of the Salt Lake Temple from my parents for Christmas. We started it on a Sunday and it took us forever to finish but was a fun little project to do with the kids and after they went to bed.

Having a sit on Dad's motorcycle.

My sister Erin brought her kids down for a few days. I love it when my siblings come to town for a lot of reasons. One of the biggest reason is the kids get to play with their cousins. Cason and Kami absolutely love Amanda and Riley. They are all so cute together. Cousins make the best friends and I'm so glad our kids have such great cousins.

Alex Boye stayed at the Inn and offered my parents a trade for tickets to his concert so we got to tag along on a fun date night. We had pretty good seats and it was a really fun little concert.

In other big news at the Rich household, the Broncos won the Superbowl! It was a fun day!

On this morning, the kids and I rode bikes over to my parent's house to feed Maggie (the pony) and the chickens. Then we swapped out the bikes for their Jeep.

We took the Jeep out to the desert to try and find the Flintstones house (I can't remember what it's actually called). We never found it and instead ended up just going to the rocks where the kids like to climb. We got there a different way than we usually go and the road turned a little steep and for a moment I thought I was going to get stuck or damage the jeep and wasn't sure how I was going to get out of it. I said a quick prayer and got a really quick answer on what to do and just like that we were fine. I was very grateful the kids and I were safe and sound and not stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Cason took making his school Valentines very seriously.
Cason still loves school and is doing so good! I am amazed at how quickly he learns. He is now reading like a champ. His teachers name is Mrs. Reid and she is amazing. I am sad that the school year is almost over because I don't want him to get a new teacher. We did find out that he got accepted into the Chinese Dual Immersion program for next year. We are pretty excited about it.

We got the Jeep a little dirty on our adventure so the kids helped me get it nice and shiny again.

The kids and I were practicing our putting at my parents house and Kami took it very seriously. She was not happy when she missed. I thought it was pretty funny.

We got curbing! Cason was very intrigued by the whole process and decided to pull up a seat with a soda and watch the guys work. He is a funny boy.

So the Inn got very big new in February. We were named one of 18 spectaular hotels to put on your bucket list by Trivago.com. It led to a lot of publicity. CBS 2 News came and interviewed Dan for their evening news. He did a really good job! It was definitely a new experience for him and fun for the kids and I to see him on TV.

If your looking for Cason, there's a pretty good chance he's somewhere kicking a ball or shooting hoops. It's fun to watch him develop a love for sports.
His love for sports is rubbing off  on Kami a bit too! He like so coach her. She's still pretty uncoordinated but oh so adorable to watch. Her excitement when she doesn't something good is too cute to handle.

Dan turned 31 on the 24th!! The kids were way more excited than he was.

Being a good Dad and letting the kids blow out the candles.

February was also the months of fevers for us.
All the kids got hit but poor Kami had more than her fair share. Her fevers kept coming back.

Dan and I do love the extra snuggles when the kids have fevers though!

2018 HIghlights

Picture journal catch up! Here is a quick month to month photo log of what we were up to in 2018. Time is flying by a little too fast! January- February- March- April- May- June- July- August- September- October- November- December- What a fun year! I know I am way way way behind but I just want to make sure I document some of our fun adventures so we never forget what an amazing life we have been blessed with. We have had plenty of hard times but looking back through these pictures helps us to be grateful for all the good times as well!

February 2017

February refused to slow down for us. The kids also refused to slow down for us. I sure do love these busy days with our little family.  Unfortunately, Ellie figured out how to climb out of her crib and decided that climbing out and playing with toys is much more fun than napping. So, she is done with naps, which makes this tired, pregnant mom very sad. When I put her down for naps this is usually what I find when I go back into her room. She keeps me busy! As you can see from the picture, the kids (I think it might have just been Ellie and Kami that did the damage) decided to pull ALL of the books out of the cabinet. They love to look at books, which I love. They usually just get the books out that they want to read, but this day was obviously different. Luckily, it is an easy cleanup.  Dan turned 32 this month! We had my parents over for mint brownies and ice cream to celebrate. He had to take the youth snow tubing up at Brian Head on his birthday so we didn'...

December 2016

Once again, I have fallen behind in posting our monthly journals but here is a quick picture recap of December (at least what I can remember of it).  Kami had her dance recital at the Festival of the Trees here in Hurricane. I could have died from all of her cuteness. She did great!  In early December the girls and I took a quick trip with my parents to Monterrey to visit Amy's family (evidently I didn't take any pictures while we were there haha) while Dan and Cason stayed home because of work and school.  It was a really fun trip for us girls. I always love a chance to be around my sisters and to let our kids play with their cousins. It was also a good excuse for Dan and Cason to have a boys weekend. In this picture Cason is helping Dan rake the leaves at the house of a widow he home teaches.  They also raked a lot of leaves at our house! Dan is a such a good dad and take every opportunity to teach our kids to serve others and to work hard. Al...
